Comments:	I have come to realise from reading many of your comments that women who gave birth in SA Homes in the US may have had a different experience to those in NZ. Many NZ women appear to have had more choice with regard to keeping their baby and spent a period of up to 12 weeks prior to the adoption when this was carried out. Comments:	About childrens home society. back in the 70's. They told my sons adoptive mother everything wrong I was 15 not 16 and from fl not the midwest. I mean they told a completely different story than the truth about me and his father. it was incredible to hear all that. I was amazed cause I had told my case worker certain things that I thought were going to be told to the adoptive parents that took my son but no .So if you are an adopted child searching for your birthparents dont go on what you have been told. It may have been amde up.For some reason back then that was"the thing" to do . I will never understabd it. There is a group called KINSOLVING that will find who you are looking for a fee and my friend just found her family member and it took 10 days. But there are other ways to look too.Good luck to all of you.

Comments:	i was at lake ellens home for unwed mothers in 1974 i was there for 8 months my given name in the home was elaine i gave birth to ababy boy either in feburary or march . i was verysedated from the time igave birth until i left the home . i think i left the home on msrch 2 i had not made adecision on adoption when i left the hospital they gave me one week to decide of course i was so sedated that i could not think . i do remember this though the lady that gave me my welfare papers to have the baby was also the representive for the adoption when i confronted her about this she denined it but i remember it very well. i appeared to me that the two agencies had planned this from the time i was sent into the home and at that time i had not madea decision about the baby being adoppted.

My birthday is 7/27/1947. From understanding my mother was in the lake hellen(tampa) home for unwed mothers, I was 3 months old and my mother was very young or whatever may be the case. My father sometime in the past did say the last name barnett possibly as being my mother, somehow they did use a private attorney to go through with the adoption who has since died and all the records were burned. From my understanding I also have a brother who was older then i was. I know there is a possiblity that my mother/brother is still out there somewhere and would love to find them. If anyone may know any info about this please feel free to email my daughter and she will let me know. I had surgery performed on my right ankle and was left in a facility for 7-8 months before she brought me to Cook County, Ga. to be adopted. Comments:	why does the children,s home fight the court order to release all info for the first 7 months of infants life while at orphanage? sa archives and courthouse released with no problem. Why would a healthy baby be held for 7 months in 1951-52? sounds like something is rotten in denmark! birhtmother signed papers releasing custody to children's home 2 weeks after childbirth. what are they hiding?Any ideas????

Comments:	I hope that you can help me. I�m looking for information about my half-sister. My mother passed away July 23, 2004. I know that she had a daughter in 1954 or 1955 (my mother was only about 14 at the time) and that during the time she was pregnant she had stayed in a Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers in Florida. She did not give birth at the home. From the information I�ve gotten from my aunt (who was only 12 at the time, but remembers visiting my mother at the SA home), apparently the SA home she was staying in had many mango trees on the property and my mother was severely allergic to mangoes so it caused her a lot of distress. Because of that, before the baby was born, my mother left the SA home and went to stay with a couple who were friends of my grandmother's �in the northeast� (my aunt can�t remember exactly which state). Apparently that couple, whose name was either Polk or Pope or something similar, adopted the baby which they and my mother together named "Tehera".
